Two
Lanner
Falcons
arrived at the Trust, they are being trained as demonstration
birds.

White-headed and African
White-backed vultures |
We were asked to care for two
Steller’s
Sea Eagles. These very large eagles, a male and a
female, are settling in very well and showing signs that they
may make a suitable breeding pair.
We have five new Harris
Hawks to add
to our team to fly on Experience Days and the daily 3pm hawk
flying for adults. They are four males, Parsley, Thyme, Mugwort
and Dill, and one female called Sage.

Two Black
Kites have
joined us and once trained they will go into our Kite display team.
They have been named Fennel and Mint and we believe that they
are both males.

African White-backed
vultures |
We were lucky
enough to be given a very handsome Egyptian
Vulture, whose
name is Master Chalk, but will probably be renamed should he ever
be chosen for public display work.
We are very pleased to be caring
for these birds as they are part of the Endangered Species Programme.

Ashley and Andy travelled to Rome to
collect 20 vultures that the Trust have been asked to look after
for the Italian authorities. They arrived safely and were give a clean bill
of health by veterinary surgeon John Chitty. The species being cared for are African
White-backed Vultures, White-headed
Vultures and Hooded
Vultures.
Details about all the above species can be found on
the main Hawk Conservancy Trust
web site by pointing the mouse at
the top left-hand box, ‘About
Us’, and then selecting ‘Species in detail’.
