Meadow Muses - Index

In June 2005, Monica gives us some background and sets the scene for the coming months. July 2005 - Reg's Meadow in June has a very lush, green appearance. The meadow grasses have grown tall and are in full bloom, with many different colours and forms.
August 2005 and the meadow in July was yellow again - this time with Lady's Bedstraw, and with lots of pink and purple splashes. September 2005 - the meadow in August, shows lots of whites and purples, and insects abound.
October 2005 - Monica and Brigid found that there is still plenty of life and colour left in Reg's Meadow in September. November 2005 - Monica and Brigid tell us of the final burst of colour as autumn arrives in Reg's Meadow in October.
December 2005 - and in November, the meadow prepares for winter. January 2006 - the meadow is December is dormant - but there's still plenty to look at.
February 2006 - this month Monica looks at lichens in the meadow and Brigid tells us about Grey Herons March 2006 - and already Monica and Brigid can see the first signs of spring in Reg's Meadow
April 2006 - Monica and Brigid tell us that it's a slow start to spring in Reg's Meadow May 2006 - Monica and Brigid

June 2006 - May has brought a sudden rush of green growth as the meadow plants push up their foliage in a race to out-perform each other and take control of the available space. July 2006 - Golden Glory (and some little things)
August 2006 - More Funny Flowers - all about grasses September 2006 - the first of a series on insects and other invertebrates, looking at some of the butterflies and moths which are found in our meadow and which have been very busy during July and August.
October 2006 - This month we are taking a closer look at a family of plants found in our meadow, previously known as “Butterfly Flowers”. Crab apples November 2006 - This month we take a culinary view of the meadow in Nature's Larder.
December 2006 - a retrospective look at the changes to the meadow during the year January 2007 - we start a series on the species occupying the meadow. This month - insects.
Collared Dove February 2007 - we continue the residents' theme with Doves and Pigeons Musk Mallow Skeleton March 2007 - we take a break from our residents' series to take a look at Nature's art gallery in Reg's Meadow
Oak leaves April 2007 - Plant Galls and the mighty English Oak feature this month Raven May 2007 - we continue the residents' theme with an invition to meet the Crows
June 2007 - lots of new foliage can initially be difficult to identify, and we look at ladybirds. July 2007 - we look at a very familiar and surprisigly wide family of plants - the daisies
August 2007 - we learn that the meadow loves rain. Just as well, really! Meadow Muses iconic image September 2007 - we take a close look at the meadow under your seat.
October 2007 - we look at another very familiar but surprisigly wide family of plants - the roses. November 2007 - Nature's wardrobe - the Autumn collection (red is the new green).
December 2007 - we look for a natural Christmas and see how nature provides all the baubles and bangles we need. Christmas trees January 2008 - and it's all about Christmas trees (and their relatives)
February 2008 - we are let into the secrets of that most fascinating of country skills that is hedge laying. March 2008 - we look at things that are not there …
Catkins and flower buds April 2008 - how different weather patterns affect the look of some of the key plants in the meadow Catkins and flower buds May 2008 - nothing much had changed since last month, so what has appeared?
Catkins and flower buds June 2008 - being a mix of soil imported from outside and soil from the car park, the mound gives a mix of plants not found elsewhere in the meadow. Red maple leaves July 2008 - we look at the many different Maple trees around the Trust grounds.
Pyramidal Orchid August 2008 - the meadow is at its glorious best with a mix of rain and sun - and a new, exciting discovery! Pyramidal Orchid September 2008 - a study of Figworts, and Brigid has found a brand new flower!
Yarrow flower head October 2008 - tales of autumn and unwelcome visitors! November 2008 - A Spectacular Autumn and New Finds on the Mound.
December 2008 - a review of the year and a number of new plants add to the biodiversity in Reg's Meadow.
