A
young wild Peregrine Falcon that had been brought into Bird of Prey
hospital, after being found injured on a beach, was returned to
its nest site at Fawley power station, Southampton. National Power
staff were on hand to watch the release, and Trust staff and volunteer
monitored the bird’s return for several days after its release. |

Thames
Valley Vultures motorcycle group held a rally at the Trust. Over
250 bikes of various types and sizes roared into the park. |

Day
one of a 2-day course held for newly qualified RSPCA inspectors.

Duffy, our European Eagle Owl, attended a photographic session
in London. |
| 15th July |
A CD player was set up in hospital foyer, playing the TV coverage
the rehabilitation and return to the wild of Ossie the Osprey. |
| 17th July |
The first of the Tawny Owl research students arrived to settle
into her accommodation. Three other students arrived over the next
few days, and begin their tasks of researching release sites and
recording evidence of other wildlife there. During the week the
students will also help the BTO in ringing the owls, and recording
physical details of each bird. |

Office
staff received training on the new software to allow Direct Debit
payments for membership renewals.
John Chitty, our vet, arrived to health check all the young Tawny
Owls prior to their release. |
| 20th July |
 The
two Great Grey Owl chicks hatched earlier in the year went to
their news homes in Surrey and the Cotswolds.
A new Bateleur Eagle chick arrived from the Cotswold Falconry
Centre.
New equipment is fitted to him to start his training routine
at the Trust. |

Avon the Barn Owl attended the Officers' Mess dinner at his sponsors,
the Joint Helicopter Commands . |
| 22nd JulY |
The Trust lent a hand at the local village fete with their ferret
racing team. All funds raised from the fete's raffle were donated
to the Trust. |
| 25th July |
Radio transmitters were fitted to the young Tawny Owls, and two
groups of staff, students and volunteers set off to a secret location
to release the owls. All were released successfully, and the students
will continue to track the birds and monitor their progress until
September. |

The Geoffrey Dashwood Bronze Vulture was collected by the raffle
winners, Mr & Mrs White. |
