Agency to discuss permanent closure of the central gap on the A303,
and new signage required because of this. |

Our first American Group Owls By Torchlight visit took place.
More such evenings are held throughout the summer. |

The Trust was presented with a cheque by the Chairman of Amport's
fete committee, Richard Unwin, representing the amount raised from
Amport fete raffle ticket sales. |

A baby gymnongene is hatched for the first time at the Trust.
In keeping with this year's theme of famous authors it has been
named 'Wordsworth' |

Swarovski became the first of the Trust’s corporate sponsors.
As well as the Trust becoming an agent to sell their range of binoculars,
the Trust were donated a pair of binoculars for each member of the
falconry staff to use during displays. |

Trust staff travelled to Heathrow to collect 5 Red Backed Hawks
that have been confiscated by Customs, and will make their new home
at the Trust. |

Summer Hawktalk was sent out to all members. |

Ashley Smith gave a live radio interview to Radio Solent on
the subject of raptor re-introduction programmes.

Paul does it properly |
Paul Ure, a visitor from Salisbury, prepared a surprise for girlfriend
Rachel Perry, who was attending an Activity Day at the Trust.
Paul had arranged with Trust staff for Avon the Barn Owl to fly
to Rachel with a proposal attached to his talons. A surprised Rachel
immediately said yes, and on bended knee Paul placed her mother's
engagement ring on her finger.

Trust staff were on hand with chilled champagne, and all the Activity
Day guests joined in the celebrations. The story later featured
in the local newspaper and radio station. |

The last bank holiday of the season was greeted by bright sunlight
and large crowds. The theme was 'wild about wildlife', and we were
joined by local groups interested in protecting and conserving local
wildlife. |
