Monthly Diary - February 2006

A general monthly overview of the park by Tracey Smith.

2nd Feb A meeting was held between webmaster and Trust managers to discuss future changes to website. A new design is agreed for the front page and future updates are agreed for existing web pages.
7th Feb

Staff and Trustees visit the NEC Birmingham to attend Spring Gift Fair to look for new stock ideas for the Gift Shop/reception.

9th Feb

Paul Jenkins from Swarovski holds a training session for all staff on the use of binoculars and how to give advice to possible buyers.
A pair of Pygmy owls arrive at the Trust from Paultons Park, Romsey.

11th Feb
Lanner falcon Lanner falcon Half Term week and the opening day of the season. The week is affected by rain and cold winds but numbers are good, and visitors are greeted with new members of staff and flying team including a cast of falcons and an Andean Condor in flight.

Wildlife crime officers watching fellow officer take part in lure swinging competition Stuffed birds used for a species identification competition

Police Wildlife Crime Officers attend a training course at the Trust covering legislation, identification, bird capture and restraint, critical care and lure swinging.

22nd Feb
Basingstoke College of Technology attend their third training course of the year at the Trust.
23rd Feb

Berkshire Agricultural College attend a Raptor Care training course at the Trust.

24th Feb Managers and Trustees attend a meeting to discuss future development plans for the study centre which is being refurbished throughout the 2006 season.
28th Feb Ashley Smith gives a talk about the Trust, its history and its current conservation projects to The Good Companions Club at Penton.
