Monthly Diary - March 2006

A general monthly overview of the park by Tracey Smith.

Although this page will always be retrospective, we shall seek to provide important breaking news by news flash on the front cover of the magazine.


1st Mar Ashley & Tracey work on design for 2006 tourist information leaflet, and the new design goes to the printers to be ready in time for Easter.
3rd Mar

Ashley and falconer Samuel Hunt travel to RSPCA West Hatch wildlife centre to meet centre manager Rupert Griffiths. A discussion is held to plan for joint project this summer to track young Tawny Owls that are released back to the wild.

5th Mar

Avon the Barn Owl attends a photo shoot

8th Mar Ashley & Trustee Julian Rowe meet with Colonel Reece Webb who is a trustee of a charity that is involved with raptors. They may have some funds available for the Trust to help with work carried out in the Bird Of Prey hospital. Following this meeting a grant application has been made for funding.
13th Mar

Volunteer Jon Scott talks to 1st Farley & Pitton Brownies about the work of the Trust.

29th Mar
Oakley Bowling Club hold an Owls By Torchlight evening at the Trust.
30th Mar

Meeting held with corporate enterntainment entrepeneur Eddie Hoare to discuss future improvement plans for corporate enterntainment schemes offered by the Trust.

March Several meetings are held during March between Trustee John Ellicock and Ashley determining the 10 year future strategic plan for the Trust.
Work is completed on the upgrading of the study centre. New heaters are fitted, blinds fitted to the windows, and new display boards showing the conservation projects are fitted to walls. A delivery of 70 conference chairs arrive meaning that guests can be seated for OBT evenings in inclement weather, and welcome talks to schools and groups can now be held inside the study centre.
