Ashley travels to Chichester to give a talk about the Trust and its work to the EE riding club.

Ashley records an interview with local radio station Win FM re the Trust's 40th anniversary.

New Lanner falcon arrives at the Trust.
12th August

Founder Hilary Smith passes away after a short illness.

15th August
Leckford Estate hold an Owls By Torchlight evening for its employees.
19th August
Ashley preparing for 40th Anniversary talk with new power point lap top and projector donated by the Hawk Conservancy Trust 100 club

Ashley presents the second of his 40th anniversary historical talks in the study. This evening is recorded to keep as a historical record of the Trust.

Motor Cycle Action Group and the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust both visit the Trust.

23rd August

Jon Scott represents the Trust at a 20/20 game at Hampshire County Cricket Club. Their mascot is a hawk and Jon takes along one of the Trust's Harris Hawks and a presentation display about the Trust's work.

Presentation of the Hawk Conservancy Trust's strategic plan for the next 5 years is given by Ashley Smith and Trustee John Ellicock to staff, trustees and interested volunteers.

BBC South Today come and film the 40th anniversary celebration at the Trust for broadcast on local news bulletin.

Local residents Mr & Mrs North celebrate the 40th Anniversary by bringing a complimentary ticket from 1960

August Bank Holiday weekend and good weather has the crowds flocking in. To celebrate the Trust's  40th Anniversary all children come in at 1960's prices 5p/shilling. There are displays about the Tawny Owl research programme by the students, and all visitors have the chance to dissect owl pellets and do some radio tracking. Shamen Shining Bear visits with his sunlodge to tell the myths and legends of the Native Americans and there are daily gundog displays by Mullencotes Gundogs

30th August
Sheena Duncan from Radio 4's shared earth programme comes to record an interview with falconer Sam Hunt and the research students about the Tawny Owl Project and goes out on a tracking session. The programme is due to be broadcast later in the year.
