Monthly Diary - March 2008

A general monthly overview of the park by Tracey Smith.

4th Mar

A group of BCA students attended a training day at the Trust.
Ashley gaves a talk to the Andover Friendship Club about the Trust, in the unusual location of the front room of one of the members.

Mar

Jon Scott visited a local nursing home with one of the Trust's owls.
Penton Good Companions group held a private Owls by Moonlight at the Trust.

-8th Mar

Ashley and falconer Mike Riley attended the International Bird Trainers' conference at Avifauna, near Amsterdam. It was a really worthwhile conference and the chance to network and swap ideas with trainers from all over the world.

12th Mar

Anya and Sonia attended a retail conference at Cardiff Castle.
A half day corporate event was held for Southampton solicitors Warner Goodman.
National Women's Register attended an Owls By Moonlight at the Trust.

17th Mar
Basingstoke College of Technology (BCOT) attended a training course at the Trust.
Campbell gave a talk to the Candover Valley Gardening Club about the conservation and research work of the Trust.
19th Mar
Getting ides for the new catering facilities from the Isle of Wight Zoo
Ashley with Trustees Marion and Julian visited the Isle of Wight Zoo to view their newly built catering facilities, in order to get ideas for the improved catering facility that is proposed to be built at the Trust.
20th Mar

BCA students attended a second training day at the Trust.
Work was completed on the new amphitheatre in time for Easter, although the ground works will take a little while to settle down.

The small Easter crowds enjoyed the new close contact with the vultures whilst sitting in the amphitheatre
The start of the Easter weekend, and we were greeted with snow, hail and gale force winds. Sadly the visitor numbers were way below what were expected, but there were great comments for the new arena.

BCOT attended a second training day at the Trust.

26th Mar
Andy gave a talk in Devizes about the work of the Trust.
27th Mar

A Corporate Day was held for the Animal Welfare department of DEFRA.

The study centre extension, its walls almost complete The study centre extension,  its roof trusses on.
Work continues on the study centre extension ... ... and on goes the roof
Throughout the month work continued on the extension to the study centre. The walls are now in place and the roof has begun to appear.
