Weighing Othello |
Summer is here and the birds are flying well. Danebury is soaring, lark is stooping and Othello's catching skills are finely tuned! It’s a good job no one complains about their jobs at the park because I think we have the best job in the world.
From chilly January to a scorching summer, the months have raced on by but nevertheless every month has been full of fun and fabulous flying, hopefully the rest of the year will follow the same path.
When chatting to the public I often get asked the same question and that is "what’s your favourite bird?", well the answer is all of them.

Madeleine killing a rubber snake |
I can safely say I don’t dislike any of the birds at the park.

With Mac the Black Eagle |
However I have a top five list of favorite birds:
- Danebury (Bald Eagle)
- Othello (African Fish Eagle)
- Mac (Black Eagle)
- Kipling (European Griffon Vulture)
- Madeleine (Secretary Bird)
The great thing is that I get to work with these birds every day, some of them in the flying demonstrations and the rest after work when the park is quiet. There is not an aspect of the job that I don’t like; the activity days are brilliant fun, as are the corporate events. I also love the children’s owl experiences.
As you might have guessed, I love my new job! The birds, the staff, the lot! It’s all fantastic.
The only problem is having to repeat myself because of my Yorkshire accent!
